Rich ripe purple colour, plenty of energy to the dark fruit, but not over extracted. A little lighter and more accessible on the palate, with good acidity. Fresh raspberry notes and real persistence - the finish is the most impressive part

Deep ruby. Liqueur-like aromas of plum, black cherry and cassis are also trimmed in discreet spice and floral nuances. There is a lovely texture to the round, seductive and once again palate coating flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract on the firm and relatively powerful and intense finish where a hint of cherry pit emerges. This admirably concentrated effort should amply repay up to a decade of cellaring.

Cropped at a modest 32 hectoliters per hectare, the 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes unfurls in the glass with an enticing bouquet of ripe cherries, dark chocolate, spices and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a textural attack, excellent depth and dimension at the core and velvety structuring tannins. It's a real success in the gourmand style of the vintage. 2020 - 2035

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru is showing a little more new oak on the nose than I would like, as well as more blue fruit, here mixed with cassis, which obscures the terroir expression. The medium-bodied, almost nubile palate offers sappy red fruit and turns voluminous and generous toward the finish, which features pure kirsch, blueberry and veins of white pepper. Thoroughly enjoyable, if not quite delivering the breeding of its peers. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. 2020 - 2033 .
