2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Blain-Gagnard

The domaine owns three plots but one has been grubbed up. A touch more to the colour, while the nose is more of a massive block of fruit. A few peachy notes of a fully ripe wine, fortunately with very good acidity behind, excellent balance. Tasted: October 2018.

A whiff of seashore and stone introduces this creamy, elegant white. Peach, melon and lime blossom flavors hold center stage, while the vibrant structure extends the lingering aftertaste of buttered brioche and baking spice. Fine harmony.

A cool, pure and restrained nose that could accurately be described as elegant offers up notes of citrus zest, white flowers, green apple and pretty spice nuances. The super-sleek and intense if once again not particularly dense flavors do possess a lovely sense of delineation on the balanced, saline and gorgeously long finish. This too will need to add depth but given the structure and balance, it should progressively develop.
