2017 Tenebris Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Oregon Fullerton

This interesting blend uses one barrel each from four of the single-vineyard selections. That said, the whole seems a bit less than the sum of those excellent parts. The specificity that shines through each of them individually is here muted, though pleasantly enough. Principal flavors are tightly wound cranberry and raspberry fruit, with an earthy, musky note running through the finish.

Bright ruby-red. Mineral-accented black raspberry, cherry and musky floral aromas are complemented by an exotic spice note that builds with aeration. Supple and concentrated yet energetic as well, offering palate-staining red fruit preserve, floral pastille and spicecake flavors supported by an undercurrent of juicy acidity. Appealingly sweet and impressively long on the finish, which features lingering cherry and candied rose qualities and polished tannins.
