2013 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Perrot-Minot

The 2013 Chapelle-Chambertin is one of the darker, spicier Grand Crus in the lineup. Here it is the wine's depth and mid-palate intensity that stand out most, especially in a year in which the wines are generally brighter in style. The powerful, explosive finish holds plenty of allure, though, especially for those with the patience to cellar the 2013 until at least age ten or so. - Antonio Galloni

As it usually is this is markedly more elegant with its admirably pure and quite cool aromas of plum, black raspberry, violets and soft earth nuances. The lilting and beautifully well-delineated medium-bodied flavors possess a really lovely mouth feel that is once again attributable to the really fine- grained tannins found on the well-balanced, saline and lightly mineral-infused finish. This is really lovely and a classic Chapelle.

The 2013 Chapelle-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is slightly deeper in color than the Charmes-Chambertin at this early stage. It already offers crystalline red cherry and strawberry fruit that I hope will be in situ once in bottle. The fruit is a little darker, an equal mixture of red and black fruit flavors. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip. There is clearly good extract here, and it concludes with a masculine, foursquare, slightly chalky finish that suggests it will require several years in bottle. This is very fine.

Good dark red with ruby tones. Slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry and crushed rock. Plush, sweet and deep, with a rich, sappy raspberry flavor enlivened by calcaire energy. Finishes very long, with a complicating notes of peppery lift. This needs time in the cellar

Pure aromas of violet, black currant and cherry pick up firm yet well-integrated tannins in this taut, athletic red. The finish is cranked up for now. Best from 2020 through 2035.-B.S
