2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1. Cru Domaine Henri Felettig

Made up from little plots of their own and some external purchases, six vineyards in all in 2021. Plantes, Chabiots, Chatelots, Gruenchers, Combottes and Aux Combottes. 30% whole bunch vinification. Mid to deep purple. The stems give a peppery lift to the nose and some fresh roses too, sweet elegant fruit very Chambolle, delicacy but with enough body. Long finish, beautifully done. Spirit of Chambolle and he may use that for a name.

(this cuvée is composed by both Les and Aux Combottes, Chabiots, Gruenchers and Chatelots). Here too the expressive nose of red cherry, floral, spice and softly oak is super-fresh. I very much like the texture of the lilting medium-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the compact, very firm and markedly austere finale. This is also going to need patience as the austerity may be more than some will find to their liking. (

A blend of Chabiots, Chatelots, Plantes, Gruenchers, Aux Combottes and Les Combottes, Felettig's one-off 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 6 Climats amounts to an average yield of a derisory 12 hectoliters per hectare, but its quality is some compensation for the lack of quantity. Offering up aromas of plums, red cherries, peonies, spices and blood orange, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with supple tannins and an enveloping core of pure, perfumed fruit. Only five barrels were produced.
